Higher Truth
(Jacob R. McGowen)
[1st Verse]
PawPaw, he watched his TV all day
(First CNN and then Fox News)
At 5 years old, I hated watching OJ
(And wanted to watch my cartoons)
[Pre-Chorus]
As I got older, the news became a plague
(Dividing homes, dividing friends)
Presenting doom and gloom all day
(Promoting views and what’s true to them)
[Chorus]
Misinformation’s just a fancy word for a lie
(Depending on your point of view)
The only way you can know what’s truly right
(Is leaning on a higher truth)
Misinformation’s just a fancy word for a lie
(Depending on your point of view)
The only way you can know what’s truly right
(Is leaning on a higher truth)
[2nd Verse]
Each network stands for the red or the blue
(And they say what we should do)
To fix our country or make it great again
(And politicians will end our blues)
[Pre-Chorus]
But no election can wipe away our pain
(No leader can wipe away our tears)
No mortal man or party can make us sane
(Or offer truth to combat our fears)
[Chorus]
Misinformation’s just a fancy word for a lie
(Depending on your point of view)
The only way you can know what’s truly right
(Is leaning on a higher truth)
Misinformation’s just a fancy word for a lie
(Depending on your point of view)
The only way you can know what’s truly right
(Is leaning on a higher truth)
[Bridge]
The word of God is a lamp unto our feet
[And a light unto our paths]
The word of God, it can set us free
[And help us trust in the Great I Am]
[Outro]
It’s time to turn off the news and all the lies
(And the theories that never end]
It’s time to deny ourselves and follow Christ
[And build our homes not on shifting sands]
It’s time to turn off the news and all the lies
(And the theories that never end]
It’s time to deny ourselves and follow Christ
[And build our homes not on shifting sands]
