I Can See The Shepherd

I Can See The Shepherd
(Jacob R. McGowen)

[1st Verse]
I’m old and I am feeling weary
I’m tired and I am in great pain
I’ve lived to lose so many loved ones
And I’ve lost much along the way

[Pre-Chorus]
And as I lie upon my deathbed
You cry and pray that I won’t go
Yet you should know that I’m not worried
For I still have a living hope

[Chorus]
For I can feel the Shepherd
Reaching out to me
Declaring it is time to come on home
To leave this life and body
And know eternity
And see the ones I’ve missed for far too long

[2nd Verse]
I’ve lived and tried to follow Jesus
To read His word and live each day
With peace, with purpose, and with passion
To seek and glorify His name

[Pre-Chorus]
Yet I have never been called faultless
I’ve failed and sinned and lived with shame
But by His mercy, I have flourished
And lived to see you all today

[2nd Chorus]
And I can see the Shepherd
Reaching out to me
Declaring it is time to come on home
So don’t you fear or worry
And don’t you cry for me
For soon my pain and tears, they will be gone

[Bridge]
It will not be much longer
Till we again will meet
So know and follow Jesus
And live what you believe
And it will not be much longer
Till we again will meet
So know and follow Jesus
And live what you believe
And live what you believe

[Outro]
And we will see the Shepherd
And we’ll bow at His feet
And we will see Him sit upon His throne
So keep your candles burning
And make sure you believe
And live each day for Him and Him alone
And live each day for Him and Him alone
