Maskless

Maskless
(Jacob McGowen)

The sun feels so good I must say
Like it has not felt in so many days
Somehow I feel lighter and brave
To venture outdoors again
For two years I’ve covered my face
On and off, here and there
In the cold, heat, and rain
But for now, it seems that today
The mask crowd has lost its reign
Oh, it is a gift this day
To be maskless
To not be tied down by fear
To seize this new day
With ultimate gladness
And faith ever more sincere
Remember the days
“Two weeks,” they said
We can “stop the spread” to prevent mass death
But those weeks turned into two years
Of death, division, and pain
Yes, the virus was quite real
But the Devil used it to kill and steal
Tore up families and ruined lives
All for “the greater good”
Yes, we live in some scary times
And our leaders still want to rule our lives
And it may seem like it’s really the end
But, it’s on days like these I remember
Who forever remains our Shelter
And Who holds all things together

Oh, it is a gift this day
To be maskless
To not be tied down by fear
To seize this new day
With ultimate gladness
And faith ever more sincere
For He rose from the grave so we could too
He shed His blood so that we would be new
So no matter what battle comes our way
Let’s face the storm with worship and praise
Forever and always… Maskless
