Dollar Store Trinkets
(Jacob McGowen)
1st Verse:
Clutter filled up all her closets
Pictures adorned all her rooms
Her canned goods were expired
While her 8 track played a song or two
She didn’t go to the movies
She didn’t try to impress
Yet, out of all of my memories of her
One still stands above the rest
Chorus:
Her dollar store trinkets
She was so faithful to give
Every single Christmas
We weren’t denied these gifts
2nd Verse:
One day we woke and we trembled
She was no longer here
She left this world in a chariot
To be with Elohim
We cleaned her house some time after
Sorted things, threw stuff away
But as we sorted through pictures
We felt His peace and His grace
2nd Chorus:
Her dollar store trinkets
Her pictures all around
Showed us her treasures of heaven
And how our minds could be sound
Bridge:
It’s been so long since she left us
And we’ve been hurt, we’ve been bruised
Yet, in these days of confusion
Her testimony rings true
3rd Chorus:
Her dollar store trinkets
Her cluttered country home
Showed that she was made by the Father
And that she was never alone
