Your Daily Bread

Your Daily Bread
(Jacob R. McGowen)

[1st Verse]
You fight and make such effort
To try and ease your troubled mind
You get lost in all your worry
Your faith can’t even start to thrive
You often look to me and wonder
If I have left you on your own
And then you leave my Word unopened
And, you forget I’m in control!

[Pre-Chorus]
And you, you always have your questions
But I, I have some of my own!

[CHORUS]
Why My child do you wander?
Why My child do you still forget?
That I have been your rock, your shelter!
That I alone will be your daily bread!

[2nd Verse]
Can you calm the winds and waves
Or make the stars light up at night
Can you feed all of the birds
Or make the sun shine oh so bright
Do you truly want to trust Me
And know that I reign above all
Or will you just look for a quick fix
And let addictions make you fall

[Pre-Chorus]
And you, you constantly ignore Me
And lose yourself more every time
But My child, for you I am so jealous
And I’ll pursue you through the darkest night

[CHORUS]

[Bridge]
So, do not fear for I am with you
For you, I have so many plans
I will strengthen you and hold you
I will uphold you with my right hand

[Outro]
I can help you not to wander
And to not so often forget
That everything you’ll ever need
You’ll find in Me, My child, your daily bread
