You were always a good employer
But, even more a friend
You always loved everyone that knew you
Till, till the very end

You never had a lot of money
Yet, you sought not wealth or fame
You only sought to find your worth
In your Savior’s name

But, still I wondered through the years
In fact, I wonder even now
How you remained to be so humble
How you kept every single vow

How He kept you
From growing cold
How He drove you
In all your pain
To stand strong in every battle
And dance in the rain!

I walk around and all I see
Are such, such hurting souls
Self-medicating, seeking somehow

All conversation seeks to end in
Harsh bickering
And in a world of many idols
There are many false kings

Yet, I don’t stand in disillusion
And I don’t wallow in pity
For it was just the other morning
That I accepted Christ as King!
