Covenant

Covenant
(Jacob McGowen)

1st Verse:
Pictures in a magazine
Or looking at my TV screen
Never seemed to do it for me
So, I took a back end road
To a place of untold woe
And where evil ran wild and free

Often thought I couldn’t change
I was a man too far from grace
And broken-down even in my soul
Healing was for olden days
And though I knew that Christ could save
I couldn’t see a way to hope

But something in my soul
Said, “Child, you’re not alone.”
And when I prayed in faith
My state of mind did change!
Then I said…

Chorus:
It’s time to change things tonight!
And time to throw away my pride
And to set a course in motion to
Make a covenant with my eyes!
And though I’m weak in my bones
Oh, Christ in me, make me strong!
Give me new eyes to see and
Lord, make me white as snow!
Oh, make me white as snow!

2nd Verse:
I’m a little older now and
I think I’ve finally figured out how
To be the man I need to be
A husband that my wife does need
And a father that my kids can see
A modern-day rarity

But as I walk life’s road
Temptation still does come
But Christ gives me the strength
To live life pure in faith
So, brother listen…

2nd Chorus:
You can be free tonight and
Your heart can come alive!
If you will just surrender and
Make a covenant with your eyes!
And if, you just let go
He will fill you up with hope!
Empower you each morning
Let you rise above the storm!
Let you rise above the storm!

Bridge:
He rose up from the grave!
He still can save today!
He rose up from the grave!
He still can save today!

3rd Chorus:
Red, yellow, black, and white
The Lord calls you tonight!
He wants you to believe and
Then give Him your life!
Your whole world can be changed!
If you just call on His name!
He, is now and forever, mighty to save!
He is mighty to save!
