Help Me Through Tonight: A New Poem

Help Me Through Tonight

Another week has come and gone

Another month is on its way

Another trial is set to start

With some pain to set the stage

I’m alone here in my room

Tossing, turning in my bed

Wanting to just give in

Forgetting I’ve been born again

CHORUS:

So won’t You help me through tonight?

For I feel lost and so alone

Can’t feel the joy that was inside

Can’t find the place that I called home

So in the middle of fear

Oh Lord of heaven, draw near

For I’m all out of words to say

And I can’t think of what to pray

Oh Yahweh, make a way!

The winter storm is raging on

The wind it chills me to the bone

Alone I walk these barren roads

Thinking I’m on my own

But then I look to the hills

And though I’m cold

There’s warmth I feel

From the Spirit deep inside

Saying there’s no need to hide

And with arms open wide

2ND CHORUS:

He will help me through tonight

With Him I’m never alone

In Him there’s joy that can’t die

In Him I’ll always have a home

And when I’m tempted to fear

He will always be near

And though my sin is wide and great

He died for my soul to save

He will always make a way
