New

New

Looking through a window pane
Standing in the pouring rain
Meaningless gadgets catch my eye
Then lust ignites and later I cry
How I’ve wasted precious time
They’re starting to avoid you

Failure defines you
And you don’t know what to do
A sip won’t ease the rain
A look won’t stop the pain
It’s time to start something new
Late again, I wonder why
Then the truth burns inside
I thought I would have
Everything I need
If I built a world formed of
My own dreams
But alas, no peace I find
They’re starting to avoid you

Failure defines you
And you don’t know what to do
A sip won’t ease the rain
A look won’t stop the pain
It’s time to start something new
And even if I called the world my own
I’d lose my base, my very mortal soul
The king won’t avoid you
The savior can define you
And He knows just what to do
He’ll stand there in the rain
He’ll ease every pain
And, He makes all things new.

I am 34 years old, and I live in beautiful Fort Collins, CO! I love the three places I have ever called home, Louisiana, Colorado, and of course UGANDA! This blog will continue to chronicle, as it has for almost eight years now, my journey of discovering who Jesus is and learning to follow Him daily. I invite you to join me in my journey and hang on for the ride! Sincerely, Jacob McGowen February 2022 Fort Collins, CO USA
