Mem’ry Bank

Mem’ry Bank
By: Jacob McGowen

I love the all-familiar
I rest in security
I find my greatest comfort
In past joys and prosperity

But I know
There must be more than
Simply dwelling on what has been
Never dreaming of what could happen
If I give my all to Him

But still I find myself
In the place of staying…

Washed up on Mem’ry bank
Ain’t it funny how my little world
Never seems to change
Yet the river rolls on and I just
Want to stay washed up on
Mem’ry bank

As I’m wading in the water
I am feeling so alone
For memories can’t keep me comp’ny
And old joys can’t make a home

Looking down, the mighty river
I can feel a gentle breeze
As the leaves blow around me
I believe it’s time to leave

But am I ready to face storms
Move on, abandon

Leave ole Mem’ry bank
It’s time for me to make the choice
To make a change
To ride the river and know that one day
My tears will fade away

I am 34 years old, and I live in beautiful Fort Collins, CO! I love the three places I have ever called home, Louisiana, Colorado, and of course UGANDA! This blog will continue to chronicle, as it has for almost eight years now, my journey of discovering who Jesus is and learning to follow Him daily. I invite you to join me in my journey and hang on for the ride! Sincerely, Jacob McGowen February 2022 Fort Collins, CO USA
